Our JetSpeed 5 software supports safe and efficient prostate brachytherapy. It simplifies the planning, treatment and follow-up planning processes of LDR brachytherapy on the prostate by calculating the necessary radiation dose.

Contouring in JetSpeed 5
The interactive real-time treatment planning begins with a live ultrasound of the prostate: you first produce a series of transverse and sagittal ultrasound scans. You then outline the prostate and the surrounding organs. The marking of the organs serves to define no-go areas so that the tissue of these vulnerable organs is later spared from radiation.
The contours can be drawn, interpolated and corrected in live video image mode. This means that you do not have to draw the contours individually for each image. If necessary, correct the interpolated contours.
Placing the seeds
For the treatment, our JetSpeed 5 software automatically creates an optimized cutting plan for implanting seed strands. The software also calculates the appropriate dosage of seeds. The previously defined no-go areas are omitted. Alternatively, you can use the manual-interactive JetSpeed 5 plan to specify the placement by positioning the needles. Our software then determines where the seed chains should be placed within the needles.
The enclosed illustration of the “Needle Loading Report” shows you an example of where and how many seeds should be placed per needle. With the help of a needle grid, you can now place needles and seed chains precisely. The TRUS color flow images help you to achieve the correct retraction. This also minimizes the risk of placing the seeds in larger vessels.
Control and post planning
During the follow-up check, you integrate MRI or CT images into JetSpeed 5. The software checks the position of the implanted seed chains and the distribution of the LDR dose in the prostate and surrounding organs at risk. The implanted seeds remain in the patient’s body and act locally, so that the treatment is limited to the affected tissue. This kills the irradiated tissue.

JetSpeed 5 supports you in the planning of prostate LDR brachytherapy, as well as treatment, CT, MRI and ultrasound follow-up planning processes. It offers a complete plan analysis: point dose, dose volume histogram, differential dose volume histogram, and more. The automatic or manual interactive treatment course planning also takes into account previously implanted seeds. It also offers an interface to our BioJet MRI fusion software.
Monitoring dosimetry data with JetSpeed 5 in real time
Our software for LDR brachytherapy not only ensures the correct dosage, but also shows you the dosimetry data in real time. The dose-volume histogram (DVH) is updated at the same time. The software also has a range warning that protects you from setting incorrect doses.
